A magazine issue built around what remains after people leave.
Atelier Journal dedicated its winter issue to memory and space. Lúcia directed the cover story and the issue’s visual language, from photography to the opening spreads.
Challenge
The theme was abstract, and the editors wanted to avoid clichés such as empty chairs or old photographs.
Approach
We photographed recently vacated rooms with long exposures, so traces of movement remained in the frame. The layouts used generous white space and captions written by the former occupants.
Result
The issue sold out in its first month, and the cover story was later exhibited as a series of large prints in Lisbon.
